in 2012, my wife and i won our second trip to hawaii on the radio. the first win was our honeymoon. the second was, well, our second. the second trip put us within a short walk to this place, the royal hawaiian hotel. it is perhaps the flagship of the hawaiian tourist industry, and a beautiful building. on our first day back on the island, we enjoyed a couple mai tais at it's mai tai bar. the next morning, i took my watercolor gear and set up under a magnificent tree in the lush courtyard. i started this 16x20in piece that day. i finished it back at home in burbank on new years 2013. i hope you enjoy.
